According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2022, more than 49,000 people died by suicide. That equates to one death every 11 minutes. Many adults think about suicide or attempt suicide. Although some people believe that asking a person about suicide will put the idea in their mind, research suggest that is not true. Suicide is PREVENTABLE. If you or someone you love is considering suicide, use the following resources to get help and call 9-1-1 in the case of an emergency.

- Believing there is no way out
- Dramatic changes in mood
- Hopelessness
- Threats of harming/killing oneself
- Withdrawing from social supports/hobbies
- Giving away possessions
- Risky/reckless behaviors
Risk Factors for Suicide
- Already having a mental illness
- History of suicidal ideations/attempts
- Survivor of physical/sexual child abuse
- Recently exposed to suicide by the suicide of a friend or family member
- Members of certain demographic groups such as:
- Men
- LGBTQIA+
- Native American/Alaskan Native
- Justice Involved
