Communicable Diseases

The Communicable Diseases staff has the following roles:

  • Investigation of reports of communicable diseases including food and water borne illness.
  • Staff also implement appropriate control measures to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in the community.
  • Nursing staff provides information about various communicable diseases.

All physicians offices, labs, schools and daycare providers are communicable disease reporters. Please call a Health Department RN directly to report the following within 24 hours:

  • Any foodborne/waterborne illness
  • Chicken pox
  • Measles
  • Meningitis
  • Mumps
  • Rabies
  • Whooping cough/pertussis
