“Looking Good, Feeling Good” is a maturation program designed to fit the needs of children in grades 4 or 5. Our program contains a two part series, which can be delivered as a series or as stand-alone presentations. Lesson 1 includes an introduction to puberty and how it affects self-esteem, body image, emotions and healthy relationships. The second lesson focuses on hygiene and maturation. To accompany the maturation lesson we use the video “Just Around the Corner.” Students are given a packet of information and have the opportunity to ask questions. Boys and girls will be separated during these classes, and will be taught by same-sex instructors (if available) from the health department.
